Diagnostic and Research Centre (established in 1995)
Aims & Objectives
- To play an essential role in screening disease, assessing responses to
treatment, monitor the condition of patients, and help to decide when it is
necessary to refer for specialist care.
- To screen the contacts of the patients of communicable diseases such as viral
hepatitis, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases.
- To detect internal abnormalities (thellasemia, haemophilia) and transmittable
diseases (Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and AIDS) by screening blood and blood
products.
- To participate in immunization programs by providing vaccines and anti venoms to
the needy people.
- To help in reducing infections in community by investigating epidemics rapidly
because DRC can detect the source of infection and identify the carriers so can
participate in epidemiological surveys.
- To assess diseases surveillance, selection, application and evaluation of
control methods that can help in controlling hospital acquired infections.
- To screen pregnant women for anemia, protein deficiency and infections, which if
not treated, may cause disease, premature death and mental illness of newborn.
- To examine the community drinking water supplies for indicators of fecal
pollution.
