A high-level planning meeting for the upcoming All Pakistan Inter-University Badminton (Women) Championship 2025-26 was held at the Syndicate Hall of the Vice Chancellor Secretariat at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur.
The meeting, presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, laid the groundwork for the prestigious national event, which is set to begin on November 24.
The championship, being organized with collaboration of Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, will witness a massive turnout, with more than 30 teams from 32 universities across all four provinces of Pakistan confirming their participation. This highlights the growing prominence of women's sports at the university level in the country.
Chairing the meeting, VC Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk issued several key directives to ensure the event's success. He emphasized the need to incorporate local games and other attractive elements to draw a large audience. Stressing the importance of student involvement, he called for ensuring the presence of student volunteers and encouraging wide participation.
"The students of Pakistan have immense potential for such activities," stated Dr. Khushk. "We must ensure a platform for the performance of every student athlete coming from different parts of the country."
He also gave clear instructions to guarantee top-tier facilities, including comprehensive medical services and all other necessary arrangements for the participants and guests. To add to the festivity, the event will feature musical programs and other sports-related entertainment.
Director of Physical Education, Muhammad Murad Peerzada confirmed that the opening ceremony of the championship will be held on November 24, with the closing ceremony scheduled for November 26. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and talent, showcasing the best of women's badminton in Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by a significant portion of the university's leadership, demonstrating the institution's commitment to the event. Notable attendees included Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi, Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences, Professor Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, Dean Faculty of Law, Abdul Rahman Bhatti, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Professor Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, and others.
Other faculty members, including Professor Dr. Khalida Mahar, Professor Dr. Hassan Javed, and Dr. Shazia Solangi, were also present.
