Under the Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship program, a total of Rs. 17.154856 million (Rs. 1 crore 71 lakh 54 thousand 856 rupees) was distributed among 236 deserving students at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur Mirs .
The ceremony was held at the Benazir Chair and presided over by Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk highlighted the significance of the scholarship program in supporting higher education. "Today is a day of achievement. These scholarships are enabling you to continue your studies, which many students from underprivileged backgrounds cannot afford," he said. He emphasized that the students now have a responsibility to contribute to society after completing their education.
Dr. Khushk assured that the allocated funds (Rs. 1 crore 71 lakh) were spent solely on students and not diverted to any other accounts. "You are the leaders and future of this nation. This financial support will enhance your skills and help you serve the country," he added.
Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan, the President, the Prime Minister, and HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and his team for their commitment to promoting equitable access to higher education across the country.
This effort reflects a national vision — to uplift communities, foster skill development, and alleviate poverty through education, Dr. Khushk added.
He urged the recipients to utilize the funds for their education and skill development. Dr. Khushk also extended Eid Mubarak greetings in advance to all attendees and their families.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi lauded the VC’s efforts in promoting quality education, research culture, and financial aid initiatives at the university.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to empowering youth through education, fostering skill development, and alleviating poverty in the long run, he added.
The focal person of the Students Financial Aid Office, Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jakhrani, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, expressed his pleasure in distributing the scholarship cheques.
Dr. Jakhrani credited Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk for his relentless efforts in ensuring the timely and transparent distribution of the scholarship funds.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of cheques among the scholarship recipients.
