The event, held to commemorate Iqbal Day, featured a presidential address by the Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, and was attended by a large gathering of students, faculty, and academics.
In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk emphasized that the true tribute to Iqbal lies in understanding and implementing his message. "We have a great opportunity to talk on Iqbal, his thoughts, wisdom, and his role as a hero of Islam," he stated.
Dr. Khushk highlighted Iqbal's global stature, noting that his poetry created linkages across nations. "People of Iran accept him as a national poet. Even in Germany, the room where Iqbal lived has been preserved by Heidelberg University," he shared, illustrating the poet's international respect.
He urged students to leverage their education and modern technology. "You are the future leaders. If such passion prevails, we can achieve many things. His message can be beneficial for you," he concluded.
Prof. Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, honored Iqbal as the "Musawwir-e-Pakistan" (Architect of Pakistan). "His service for Muslims was great. If he hadn't dreamed of the creation of Pakistan, we couldn't have a homeland," he asserted. Dr. Shaikh stressed that Iqbal’s philosophy instills the necessary self-esteem and consciousness of existence for a nation to thrive.
Prof. Dr. Akhtiar Ali Ghumro, Director of the Institute of Commerce, advised students to live by principles and with dignity. "We should have principles to live with dignity. We should be 'Khuddar' (self-respecting)," he said, encouraging active participation in academic discussions.

Dr. Tariq Bin Umar, Chairman of the Urdu Department was the key note speaker he focused his address on the power of youth. "For Iqbal, youth can have the power to change destiny. Noting that 45 percent of Pakistan's population is young, Dr. Umar said Iqbal’s message is a call to understand one's own potential and to create a better future, adding that "a hand extending support is better than a hand taking from others."
The seminar concluded with remarks from Dr. Salahuddin Abro, who spoke on the Pakistan Movement and the enduring need for national unity, echoing the themes of perseverance and identity that were central to Iqbal’s vision.
