Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur is the only University
of Province of Sindh, where the subject of Archaeology is taught at graduate and
postgraduate levels under a full-fledged Department of Archaeology. It is also a
teaching-cum-research department providing a full range of academic and research
needs. Besides B.Sc. (Honors) and M.Sc. Degree, the department also registers students
for M.Phil. and Ph.D.degrees. The department carries out excavations/exploration
in winter season. The students are required to participate in these explorations/excavations
as part of their syllabi and practical training.
The Department has following laboratories
at present:
1. Photographic Laboratory.
2. Teaching. Museum, which contains artifacts from Paleolithic To Late Historic
period.
3. Seminar Library, which contains 1692 book including 479 books donated by Prof.
Dr. Nilofar Shaikh and 670 books donated by Dr. F. A. Khan.
4. Conservation Laboratory, which provides facilities of conserving antiquities
and ancient manuscripts and of cleaning and preservation of ancient coins,
