University At A Glance
ShahShah Abdul Latif University is located in the heartland of Upper Sindh, i.e,
Khairpur, a former state that joined Pakistan in 1955. The main campus is
located near National Highway and is easily reachable by air, railway and bus
services. The Sukkur Airport is one of the busiest airports of Upper Sindh, is
on half an hour drive and Khairpur Railway Station is 5 Kilometers away from the
main campus.
The beauty of the Shah Abdul Latif University lies in the fact that it is
surrounded by famous archaeological sites; Moen-jo-Daro, Kot Diji Fort, Rohri
Hills, Nara Desert, religious shrines Sadhu-Bella, Shrine of Sachal Sarmast,
barrages and bridges (Lloyds Barrage) and vibrant culture where people of the
area are very friendly and hospitable.
The present campus of the University covers an area of 291 acres of land is on
just three kilometers from Khairpur town. The landscape of the University
includes three canals at a walking distance, which serve as excellent picnic
spots for the students and the faculty.
The University has over 5000 students in
various programs. There are 3500 undergraduate and 1500 graduate students. About
75 percent of students are male and 25 percent female. Despite five students
hostels (including one for girls) university has also provided and arranged
transport facility for students, and majority of them commute daily from their
homes. |
